All great photography tells a story. Whether it is a man jumping over a puddle, a moon rising above the desert or an unmade bed the viewer creates a scenario that means something to him or her. I have been telling stories in video for years and now with still photography I am condensing the stories into one single image.   

Composition, color, and lighting all come together to create a picture that pulls the viewer in and makes him consider what is happening in the photograph.   

When I construct a photograph, whether it is a still life in the studio or a scene outside, I consider what is interesting about the subject. For example when I shoot a flower in the studio, I want the viewer to experience the color and texture of the petals and leaves. I accomplish this with composition, color and lighting. When I am shooting outside the same idea applies. I look for subjects that are interesting and compose the photograph so as to draw the viewer into the scene by leading his eye to the strong point in the picture. I try to include a person or unique object in the composition to make the viewer more involved in the story I am trying to tell.
